Through all of DOCTOR WHO 1963-89 there was no indication that the Doctor had
any interest in romance. The Curse of the Fatal Death flouted this
convention by having the Doctor announce to his enemies that he was retiring
to marry his current girl companion whose name was given as Emma. In a comedy
of errors, he ran out the remainder of his twelve regenerations by way of
several celebrity guest appearances (including Richard E. Grant, who in 2003
was to voice the Doctor in an animated "official" story on the BBC website).
Though I incorporated the characters of Curse of the Fatal Death into my fanfiction I consigned the events (including the name "Emma") to a dream of the Doctor, as above. |
