And now you know why Rysa is the Starfleet leave planet of choice in the
22nd century and the 24th century but 23rd century Starfleet seems never to
have heard of it.
Note the subtextual switchover from Where No Man Has Gone Before uniform style to rest-of-the-series uniform style. Note that McCoy appears in the transporter room already in the new style, chatting away perfectly familiarly with Kirk and Spock. Apparently, as many fans would have it, McCoy was indeed already the ship's surgeon by Where No Man but was off on some other business during the events at the edge of the galaxy. |
